Whilst our volunteer editors will do their best to ensure our events listings are as up to date and accurate as possible; with the fast pace of how things are changing, it is inevitable that some will slip through the net. If you are planning on travelling for larger events, we would recommend that you contact the venues directly to avoid disappointment. We are putting in place new measures to give event organisers a friendly reminder to see if they wish to remove cancelled events, so we're sorry if it looks a bit bare in here :(
If you, or any of your party have a new persistant cough, or develop a fever of 38C, we would instead advise you to use the NHS's dedicated website for free, professional advice.
Nature, Natter and Nibbles, 14th March 2025, 10:30 to 12:00 at Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre (15 miles)
A peaceful stroll through the wonders of nature, with cake, hot drinks and good company.
Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre is set on a lovely, hidden nature reserve tucked away behind Didcot Power station. With meadows, ponds and woodland there is always something to see from spring snowdrops to autumn colour, wary foxes to dancing dragonflies - we even have our own new demonstration wildlife garden!
Join our learning volunteers for a peaceful, gentle stroll around the reserve, stopping to appreciate whatever takes your fancy. Visit the bird hide, peep into the ponds, look for sparking frost and crunch in the leaves. Hot drinks, cake and biscuits are provided, along with good company and conversation. The sessions are relaxed and informal with the option of a shorter route if you prefer. Come alone, come with a friend, bring your baby in a carrier - all welcome! Come and soak up the nature in friendly company!
The centre is accessible by car, bike and public transport (buses to Milton Park, and trains to Didcot Parkway with a regular bus link). You are welcome to bring your lunch to enjoy in the picnic area after the event.
We are committed to keeping our visitors, staff and volunteers safe. Please DO NOT attend if you are unwell, or testing positive for an infectious illness, such as COVID-19. Your consideration is hugely appreciated.

Adult Memory Basket Weaving Workshop, 15th March 2025, 9:30 to 16:30 at Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre (15 miles)
Weave willow, fabric scraps and memories into a beautiful, useful and unique basket.
Do you have lots of fabric scraps you don't know what to do with? Old dresses and pairs of jeans too worn out to mend any more but to special to throw away? Baby clothes? Come learn to weave them into a basket! We'll make a willow frame using material grown on the nature reserve, then use your scraps (and we'll have extra material on hand) to weave the middle of the basket. A lovely way to give old materials new life and learn an ancient skill at the same time. The session will take place in our bright education centre classroom overlooking the nature reserve. Hot drinks, biscuits and a slice of cake provided - please bring a packed lunch.
We are committed to keeping our visitors, staff and volunteers safe. Please DO NOT attend if you or your child are unwell, or testing positive for an infectious illness, such as COVID-19. Your consideration is hugely appreciated.
Please note the centre is accessible by public transport with regular buses (including connection to Didcot Parkway railway station) serving Milton Park, a few minutes walk from the centre.
